Have you got photo ID to be able to vote?
The Gloucestershire County Council Elections will take place on Thursday 1 May 2025. All voters are required to show an accepted form of photographic identification (photo ID) to be able to vote at a polling station. This will affect all voters who vote at a polling station. This change will not affect postal voters.
Your ID can be expired however your photo must still resemble a likeness to you to be able to present it in the polling station and be issued a ballot paper. If your name on your ID does not match what is listed on the electoral register, you may need to provide additional documentation (such as a marriage certificate) to confirm your identity. If you do not know if you have updated the electoral register you can re-register online on the link below or contact the office on the number below.
If you or someone you know doesn’t have photo ID, then you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate to use instead. Details of how to do this can be found on the link below.
You can apply online for a postal or proxy vote at https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote and register to vote online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
